What is cannibalization in SEO?

Cannibalization refers to a piece of content—from the same domain—that ends up competing for the same result. It often happens with keywords and duplication of content within a website, and as a result, search engines like Google cannot determine which page version to display, or associate a keyword with. More often, it returns the wrong page, which leads to fluctuations on the initial page.
